"In the midst of nothing, I found everything — in the warmth of a bowl, in the silence of steam." — Sen no Rikyū, 1591
The full formal tea ceremony. A meditative journey through preparation, presentation, and presence. Matcha is whisked in silence as you learn the ancient choreography of host and guest.
A condensed evening ceremony by candlelight. The room is lit only by a single lantern. A quiet, contemplative experience ideal for couples or solo seekers.
Learn the fundamentals — how to whisk matcha, the etiquette of receiving tea, and the philosophy behind each gesture. Leave with your own chawan and whisk.
Select your preferred ceremony and we will confirm your place within 24 hours. Groups are limited to six guests.
Born in Kyoto, Kenji-san has practiced the way of tea for over forty years. A student of the Urasenke tradition, he spent two decades at Daitoku-ji temple before opening Wabi Sabi Tea in 2012.
His approach honors the principle of ichigo ichie (一期一会) — "one time, one meeting." Each ceremony is unrepeatable, a fleeting convergence of guests, season, and spirit.
"I do not teach tea," he often says. "I create the conditions for tea to teach you."
